"Berry Nice Towels" are flour sack towels made in downstate Michigan and machine embroidered by me with berry patterns, Blueberry, Thimbleberry, Strawberry, Blackberry and Raspberry. The towels range in size, 28x28 and 30x30 and are $15.00 each or 3 towels for $40.00
During the horse and buggy days, homemakers purchased their flour in 100 pound sacks. Once the sacks were emptied, washed and bleached, they were “recycled” in a number of different ways such as dishtowels, cleaning and polishing cloths, diapers and underclothing. In addition, for those who could not afford to purchase new bedding, flour sack towels were sewn together to make sheets and pillowcases.
Since flour sack towels are super soft, completely lint free, absorb like paper towel, and dry faster than average kitchen towels, they add a sparkle to dishes, glassware and windows.
Homemakers have enjoyed using flour sack towels for generations. They are still the best bargain for dish towels and they seem to get better with age. All the nubs, imperfections, shadings and variable sizes/edgings are characteristic of these old fashioned towels
I am happy to bring you these towels using my 6 needle embroidery machine and a special poly thread that withstands hot washings and chlorine bleach. The newly milled blank towels sized approximately 30 x 30 come from Lower Michigan and are made in the USA.
